Galileo Church

We seek and shelter spiritual refugees, rally health for all who come, and fortify every tender soul with the strength to follow Jesus into a life of world-changing service.

OUR MISSIONAL PRIORITIES:

1. We do justice for LGBTQ+ humans, and support the people who love them.

2. We do kindness for people with mental illness and in emotional distress, and celebrate neurodiversity.

3. We do beauty for our God-Who-Is-Beautiful.

4. We do real relationship, no bullshit, ever.

5. We do whatever it takes to share this good news with the world God still loves.

“What is church?” we asked around Galileo Church, and here’s what we heard: “In Christ there is no longer Jew or Gentile, enslaved person or free person, male and female. For all of you are one in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:28). Thanks be to God. Concept, filming, and editing by Lithium Creative Media.

Jesus spent his life looking for people who were hungry, and he fed them. Sometimes it was the yummy kind of food, sometimes it was food for the spirit, and sometimes it was both. Shouldn't we do the same? Film by Salt, script by Katie Hays.

In 2023 Galileo Church started The North Texas TRANSportation Network to give travel grants to families of trans or gender-diverse minors who seek out-of-state healthcare. Here is an interview with CBS Texas that includes our Lead Evangelist Rev. Dr. Katie Hays and NTTN CEO Cynthia Daniels. Find out more info about NTTN here.

Here's an introduction to Galileo Church when it was only a gleam in the pastor's eye.

At a marriage equality rally in Dallas on the eve of the Supreme Court hearings (15.04.27), Rev. Dr. Katie Hays was granted 90 seconds to explain our church's support of justice for LGBTQ people.

In Fall 2014, on the eve of the Fifth Circuit Court hearings on marriage equality, we went to Dallas for our first marriage equality rally - ever! The organizers of the rally wanted to hear a voice from the suburbs, but these voices were in short supply that night.

The first time Katie spoke really publicly about LGBT inclusion was this sermon - preached to a few hundred ministers at our denominational event early on a Monday morning. On Tuesday, we would face a vote concerning the inclusion of LGBTQ people in our church's worship, work, and leadership. You'll be able to guess how Katie voted.
