We seek and shelter spiritual refugees, rally health for all who come, and fortify every tender soul with the strength to follow Jesus into a life of world-changing service.

OUR MISSIONAL PRIORITIES:

1. We do justice for LGBTQ+ humans, and support the people who love them.

2. We do kindness for people with mental illness and in emotional distress, and celebrate neurodiversity.

3. We do beauty for our God-Who-Is-Beautiful.

4. We do real relationship, no bullshit, ever.

5. We do whatever it takes to share this good news with the world God still loves.

Time For Communion

Towards the end of the service, we will have time for communion: a celebration of Jesus’s last meal with his friends, commemoration of his death, and reminder to wait and keep remembering until he comes. All are welcome at the table of our Lord. Here are some ideas for that commemoration in the space of your worship party.

You could actually break and pour. You’ll see the person on the screen do it: they’ll say a few words, pray, and then speak the words of institution (1 Corinthians 11:23-26). When they say “he took bread and broke it,” they’ll break the bread… what if you stood right there next to the screen, and broke your own bread together with us? “He took the cup also…” and then pour that pitcher of wine (or whatever it actually is) into a bowl/chalice for dipping. And then, whoever all is there, they can come up and tear off a piece and dip it in the cup. At least, that’s how we would do it. Maybe you prefer drinking from a common cup, or from different cups…whatever. Eat and drink. Remember Jesus. All are welcome. Anyone can break and pour, give, and receive communion. Absolutely anyone.

After that, there are a few minutes of sort of intermission when everyone in the barn takes communion. It takes a little longer in there than it probably will with your smaller group. So, you have some options.

You could pray together. Right out loud, you could say, “Thanks be to God for gathering us together. Thanks for a space to be a faith community in Jesus’s name. Thanks for food and friends. Thanks for good words and music and liturgy to draw our hearts nearer to Yours. Thanks for communion in our tummies to take us through the next week. Amen.” Or use your own words.

You could discuss the reflection question. There’s one on the screen, if you still have the livestream up. It’s meant to help you reflect on what we thought/did/learned together in the last hour.

You could practice generosity together, sharing with Galileo Church online, and discussing all the good ways you’ve shared with our church and the world in the week just pass: giving your heart in prayers, your time and energy, or giving in amazing ways we haven’t even thought of yet.

You could revisit the query from the top of worship. You’ve had an hour to reflect now, after all. Anything you want to add?

You could put the online prayer wall on the screen, and pray silently, typing-ly, intercessional-ly.
