Galileo Church

Quirky church for spiritual refugees. Who would Jesus love?

Our missional priorities:
1. We do justice for LGBTQ+ humans, and support the people who love them.
2. We do kindness for people with mental illness and in emotional distress, and celebrate neurodiversity.
3. We do beauty for our God-Who-Is-Beautiful.
4. We do real relationship, no bullshit, ever.
5. We do whatever it takes to share this good news with the world God still loves.

This is Us: Heirs (Theological Anthropology in Genesis, 6/6)

...and they All Lived Happily Ever After! We wrap up our series of Theological Anthropology tonight. We finished all Pre-History of the Bible, where God and humanity were...kind of, dating? Now, God has decided to put a ring on it- that is, a circumcision. But it's nonetheless a Covenant! A Capital-C Covenant, like a marriage, where God promises to love Us, forever and ever and ever, for better or worse, in sickness and health, for richer or poorer. God and Us are done being Ross and Rachel, and we're ready to settle down and be a family. Thanks be to God.

Missional Priorities

We remembered our missional priorities with varied voices saying what they mean:

1. We do justice for LGBTQ+ people.

2. We do kindness for people with mental illness or in emotional distress, and we celebrate neurodiversity.

3. We do beauty for our God-Who-Is-Beautiful.

4. We do real relationship, no bullshit, ever.

Our usual preacher wasn’t sure they would let her back in the pulpit after hearing from these rock stars.

Ryan, Julian, Eleanor, Nathan, Astreia = rock stars!

Christ Is Risen! He Is Risen Indeed! (Easter Sunday)

"I wonder if I would rather stay dead than depend on somebody else to raise me up? Stay down rather than let someone else lift me from the floor? Stay broken and guilty and shriveled with fear rather than let someone let me off the hook, forgive me, cover me with grace?"

Passion Sunday: a short reflection

Maybe she's a scandal. But maybe she's a SPY. The anointing woman whose name we were supposed to remember...

Litany of Confession (and Communion)

This is part two of “Mansplaining Jesus 3/6” from 3/19. You’ll hear the voices of our Missional Logistics Team, our Care & Feeding Team, and our pastoral staff, describing a situation that feels like a turning point in our church life. We confessed before the church that our welcome had reached a painful limit, and asked our Area Shepherd, Rev. Dick Lord, to pray for us and assure us of God's pardon. Listen with care, as there is a mention of sexual assault in the telling -- not among the people of Galileo Church, but in the story of another who asked for refuge with us.
